DWYER continues dominance with win
The Florida Bass Nation Kayak Series and Georgia Bass Nation Kayak Series joined forces on January 24th for a dual event on Lake Seminole, near Donalsonville, Georgia. With 55 anglers representing eight different states, the Seminole event marked the most states ever represented for a Florida/Georgia Bass Nation Kayak Series event, a clear sign that both series continue to grow and gain momentum.
Florida angler Duayne Dwyer emerged victorious, locking up the win with 96.25 inches and a two-inch margin of victory. The Seminole win builds on Dwyer’s strong start to the year, following earlier 3rd and 5th-place finishes, and now moves him into the AOY lead in the North Region, ahead of Brandon Hewlett in second and Matt Vogt in third.
The leaderboard saw multiple lead changes throughout the day. At 10:30 a.m., Brandon Hewlett set the early pace with 93.50 inches. By noon, Florida angler Kylee Short took control of the event with 94.25 inches, holding the top spot for some time. Then, at 2:00 p.m., Dwyer made his move, jumping the field with a late flurry that pushed him to 96.25 inches, a total that would not be matched.
Short finished the day in second place, securing the runner-up payday with 94.25 inches. The performance continues a strong start to the 2026 season and moves Short ahead of all rookie anglers in the North Division. The finish comes on the heels of a major career milestone, as Short was recently named one of only four official BassmastHER Brand Ambassadors, a significant achievement for the Florida angler.
Rounding out the podium was Brandon Hewlett in third, followed by Ross Pinkerton in fourth and Curtis Yakalavich in fifth. Big bass honors went to Adam Chancey, whose 22.75-inch catch anchored his sixth-place finish.
